Spring and John Rosati were married in 1989 in California. That same year Spring graduated from Citrus College with a degree in Business Administration. John was a chaplain's assistant in the Air Force. Little did they know that their interests would soon lead them to make quality child care their business in Colorado Springs.
After serving a year in Korea John Rosati was stationed at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. He then became a reservist stationed at Peterson Field and was later reassigned to March AFB in California where he still reports for training each month. Spring and John met at a Jaycees training conference at Citrus College. The Jaycees is an organization established in 1920 whose goal is to provide opportunities for young people to develop personal and leadership skills through service to others. The couple are currently mentors for the Rocky Mountain Jaycees. Spring worked in banking while in school, working her way up from teller to opera tions manager at the credit union at Vandenberg AFB. She also got her daycare license while at Vandenberg and offered daycare in her home. Upon moving to Colorado Springs she took a job as a manager at Pacific Linen. She soon discovered that she missed daycare and in 1991 she once again began offering daycare out of her home.
She was busy right from the start. She got involved with legislation regarding standards and zoning for daycare providors and became an area coordinator for the State Board for Home Care Providors. She also works with the Alliance for Kids, an organization that helps secure funding for training and quality care. Spring continued with her formal education earning an AS in Early Childhood Development in 1992. She is currently working on her Bachelors in the same field. In 1999 she opened her first daycare center in a commercial location at 3609 Austin Bluffs Parkway, Suite 22 at Austin Bluffs and Academy Boulevard. In 2001 she got a call from the Learning Center, formerly Rugrats, in Security. The owner was in financial difficulty and wanted out. The Rosati's were up for the challenge. They invested in renovations and equipment adding a kitchen, separating areas for different age-groups and before long Spring's Educare Centers was up and running its second location in Security.
Spring's cares for children from age 6 weeks to 16 years. They also care for children with special needs including ADD, Autism and physical disorders. They do more than just provide a place for children to pass the time. They work with parents and children to determine individual development goals and to come up with a strategy for meeting them. Older children must complete homework before they can play. Cirriculum planning, reading programs and field trips are also part of the routine.
The Educare portion of Spring's Educare Centers comes from Educare Colorado, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of early childhood care and education through program assessment and feedback, by educating parents and through public policy. For detailed information on the organization and it's programs visit www.educarecolorado.org or call 1-877-Educare.
John and Spring Rosati also care for two children of their own; Josh, 12 and Brandon, 9. Both boys also help out at the centers. John handles much of the administrative duties of the business as well as being a care providor himself. Spring oversees and participates in the day to day operations as well as working with several industry related organizations to ensure that her business and the childcare industry in general continues to improve. Spring's plans to start a child ID program in the fall including photo's and fingerprinting which parents can keep on file in case of emergency.
Before becoming a Spring's Educare Center in 2001, the 30 Widefield Blvd location had gone through 3 different owners in three years. The Rosati's would like their clients to know that they are here to stay. We'd like the Rosati's to know that we're glad they're here.
